Photo Project Day 8

This lavender-pink beauty caught my eye today as I was searching for today’s photo challenge subject. Its just starting to bloom, with several unopened buds making up a cluster. I liked the shape of the flowers and wanted to try and capture a dynamic photo singling out the plant from the not-too-distant busy background foliage. In reviewing the image on screen, I realize I could have chosen a few stops down to sharpen the focus of the upper flower, but that might have also created more distraction in the background. It’s this fine-tuning between the aperture and distance that I need to work on. For this shot, I’m happy with the result, but plan to go back on my break to see how far I can push the aperture in this situation.
