Wine Love
Last Wednesday I had a photo shoot at Lambert Bridge Winery in Healdsburg, California. It was a last minute booking, but I was super excited to work with one of my good friends and have the opportunity to photograph wine!
As I headed out on Dry Creek road, the beauty of the vineyards greeted me through the blanket of light fog left over from the previous night. Being surrounded by red, orange and burgundy maple leaves changing from their summer to fall colors while visions of ripe berries waiting to be picked put me in a calm mood. I was eager to capture this relaxing feeling this area has on me.
I arrived at the winery and was greeted with a warm smile from my friend who then gave me a tour of the grounds. I was introduced to several members of their friendly staff and tasted the freshly picked zinfandel grapes as they waited to be hand-sorted. My excitement was growing for what was about to become one of my favorite photography days to date.
There were plenty of styling props to play with and a dozen of background opportunities, I could hardly contain myself! I developed a plan and mapped out the 10 shots that awaited me.
We started outside in the gardens on their gorgeous stone table for the first shot of 2 bottles with the beautiful wooden gift box. I really wanted to capture the warm and peaceful feeling of being at Lambert Bridge. The 3 bottle zinfandel gift box was next and I was inspired by the texture of their custom outdoor brick oven. It was perfect! After all, zin and pizza go so well together!
We moved inside for the remaining shots, which were all created in their amazing tasting room–where they hold the wine and food pairings, as well as special events. It’s absolutely gorgeous in there, and I was so inspired!
Needless to say, it was a long day. But, after the last image was captured, it felt fantastic. I loved every moment…from the many lighting challenges to developing each composition. The people at Lambert Bridge were a dream to work with and I look forward to coming back soon to do it all again.
